TARLAC CITY, Sept. 24 (PIA) -- Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is conducting flexible set-up in its skills training program courses offered under the new normal.
TESDA Tarlac Provincial Training Center (PTC) offers 13 various trainings including Automotive Servicing NC II, Computer System Servicing NC II, Electrical Installation Maintenance NC II, Driving NC II, and Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning NC II.
In an interview, PTC Technical Education and Skills Development Specialist II Alvin Castro said they came up with initiatives to address trainings under the new normal.
"TESDA thought of ways to continue its programs despite the challenges in the new normal in which flexible learning was agreed to be one way forward," Castro said.
In this set-up, Castro said TESDA offers additional scholarship inclusions.
"Under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, TESDA gives out personal protective equipment allowance, internet allowance for the scholar's load, daily living allowance, and PhP5,000 worth of training materials," he enumerated.
"They will also be insured for one year by Government Service Insurance System, receive their workshop uniform, and a toolkit after training to start-up their livelihood," he added.
With regards to the practical part of the training, Castro said he scholars are given schedules as to when they can proceed in the training center.
"For hands on activities, scholars will go to our training centers but only with fewer numbers per batch to assure physical distancing in accordance to Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases
guidelines," he said.
With this, PTC Administrator Leonard Tabamo called for scholars to undergo the trainings TESDA offers.
"We are encouraging our fellow Tarlaquenos to avail of the courses offered by TESDA, these may be short courses but can be of great help especially during this pandemic," Tabamo said.
Interested applicants may inquire at the TESDA Tarlac Provincial Office Facebook page or through text at 09129947444 and 09120829090, or personally visit their office located at San Isidro, Tarlac City. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
