SIYUDAD NG DAGUPAN, Mayo 18 (PIA) - - Dinala ng Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ang pamimigay ng tulong pinansiyal sa mga overseas Filipino workers ( OFW) sa Pangasinan na naapektuhan ang hanapbuhay dahil sa pandemya.
Labimpitong Pangasinenses, kabilang ang sampung taga-Dagupan ang nabenepisyuhan ng tulong na ito mula sa gobyerno sa pakikipagtulungan ng OWWA sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at ng mga lokal na pamahalaan.
Sa isang simpleng seremonya na ginanap sa Museum ng siyudad ng Dagupan, tumanggap ang mga OFWs ng P20,000 bawat isa upang magamit nila sa negosyong nais nilang simulan.
Ang programang ito ay kasali sa 'Balik Pinas, Balik Hanap Buhay' na programa ng OWWA.
Nabigyang tulong din ang mga sampung dependents ng mga OFWs na maging scholar sa ilalim ng Project EASE (Educational Assistance through Scholarship in Emergencies).
Ang aktibidad ay dinaluhan ng mga opisyal mula sa OWWA tulad nina Deputy Administrator para sa Media and Public Affairs na si Esther Margaux Uson at Deputy Administrator for Reintegration Faustino "Bubsie" Sabarez III.
Ayon kay Usec. Uson, pinag autos sa kanya ng Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na pabilisin at padaliin na ang pag bigay ng tulong sa mga OFW.
"Ginagawa po lahat ng ating gobyerno para mabigyan tayo ng pag-asa, ng panimulang pangkabuhayan, pang-edukasyon. Handa ang gobyerno sa pagbibigay ng tulong," ani Uson.
Nagpasalamat naman si Dagupan City Mayor Brian Lim sa mga ahensya ng gobyerno na patuloy na tumutulong sa kanyang mga kababayan lalo na at mayroong halos 1,300 na OFW ang umuwi sa siyudad bunsod ng kawalang trabaho dahil sa pandemya. (JCR/VHS/RPM/PIA Pangasinan)
