Shooting at anti-Trump rally leaves man critically injured

One person was critically injured after a gunman opened fire during a protest march against the policies of US President Donald Trump in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday evening. Police said a person of interest has been detained at the scene.

According to the Salt Lake City Tribune, the incident occurred on State Street, directly outside the Liberty Sky apartment building. Videos from the event show protesters running in panic after gunshots were fired.

A victim has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said.

"We have a person of interest in custody," the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a statement. Photos and videos circulating on social media appear to show officers pinning down a man dressed in black and handcuffing him.
