(260327) -- SONGMING, March 27, 2026 (Xinhua) -- This photo taken on March 26, 2026 shows a scene at Dongcun academy in Dongcun community, Songming County, southwest China's Yunnan Province. Dongcun community was once a provincial-level impoverished village, grappling with challenges such as underutilized resources and difficulties in industrial development. In recent years, the community has revitalized idle rural houses, school buildings, and other spaces to develop sojourn tourism. By restoring vacant houses to their original appearance for use as homestays, and repurposing unused structures into integrated agricultural, cultural, and tourism complexes with diverse functions, the community has transformed dormant resources into key drivers for rural tourism development. This has fostered an industrial ecosystem where catering, accommodation, cultural and creative industries, study tours, wellness tourism, and other sectors thrive together. (Xinhua/Zhang Cheng)
